Ashley's Strawberry Cake

My friend Ashley has been asking and asking and asking me to bake a strawberry cake for her. After about 1.5 months, I finally did! LoL! Here are the pics!

Here's a picture of the cake I had to recreate! (Side note: Their cake is about 1 inch+ taller than mine.)

Most people think this cake looks like a hat, lol. What do you think?

Fun fact: The brim of the "hat" is actually a cake board covered in fondant, ;). Creative huh?!?

Update!

Hello all!

We have been very busy lately...BAKING of course! :) I'm in the process of gathering our photos to post on the blog.


I'm also enrolled in the Wilton's Fondant and Gum Paste class. AND I LOVE IT!! Fondant is so easy and aesthetically pleasing!!


Here is a pic of my first try at marble fondant. I think it turned out pretty well!! :)

FYI: Fondant is a dough-like "frosting"/covering for cakes (mostly wedding cakes). The fondant gives your cake a smooth finish. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! :)

More Practice

I had to bake 2 cakes for my final class (yay) this past Friday. I had extra batter and baked a 1 layer cake for the office.
